Pennan

For those of us of a certain vintage Pennan on the north east coast of Scotland can only mean one thing - Bill Forsyth's magical film Local Hero. Pennan was the setting for the fictional village of Ferness while the bulk of the beach scenes were filmed on the west coast. I say a certain vintage as five young lads in their early twenties came into the hotel and knew there was a film made here but couldn't remember its name.
