36 Years And 1 Week
We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary today - although it was a week late as we had attended a funeral on the actual day a week ago and somehow it didn't seem appropriate for us to celebrate. Today was the first 'free' day we had since then.
We went out for the day - aiming for Helmsley. On the way we stopped at Kilburn (of white horse fame) for a coffee in a little cafe in the Mouseman visitor centre (the company are a specialist furniture maker, but way out of our price league). From their garden there is a wonderful view of the horse over the rooftops - see extra.
We then went on to Bylands Abbey - a fantastic site of what was once one of the greatest monasteries in Britain. Some great bits of the main abbey are still standing. A lovely quiet location.
The on to Helmsley for lunch - with a great view of the castle there. A wander round town then home with a quick stop at Boroughbridge to collect a cake from the bakery there.
Bottle of bubbles chilled in the fridge...nice way to end the day.
