From Sandiacre, through Stanton by Dale and Risley via two golf courses and a local nature reserve... oh and also The Risley Park public house, which was a surprise. When I was at university 20+ years ago (is that all, it seems far longer ago than that) my Aunt Mary treated me to lunch at The Risley Park. She'd been in education for, I think, all of her working life and was interested to learn how I was finding my teaching degree.
The plaque tells of the link between Stanton by Dale and the famous Stanton Ironworks, which later became Stanton and Staveley, and is commemorated by their name being stamped on thousands of manhole covers.
It was a pleasant walk, but at a cracking pace, and I think the couple of people who were new to this group's walks were rather taken aback by the mph.
