Minnesota - Land of 10,000 Lakes
Actually, their website says there are 11,842 lakes in MN. So that is what I thought I should share with you today, one of their beautiful lakes. We arrived in Duluth and promptly had the famous Juicy Lucy burger, filled with molten cheese - yum. Left there this morning and headed to Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge in Rochert, MN. On the way, we crossed the mighty Mississippi, drove through a "Big Foot" sighting town (at least that is what they claim) and a town claiming to be the origin of Paul Bunyon. There were more song birds at Tamarac than we saw at Crex Meadows but they were elusive. I finally saw an oriole! Other identifiable sightings include: goldfinch, warblers, swallows, red-winged blackbird, ducks, trumpeter swans, a blue heron, an osprey and at least one bald eagle. If only they had cooperated and let me photograph them! We left Minnesota and are spending the night in Jamestown, ND ready for our next birding adventure.
