Roadside chicken

I visited St Mary's church at North Stoke today, another little church on the South Downs, sadly no longer in regular use, buy maintained by the Churches conservation trust and still open to visitors.To get to it I had to drive up a rough track, with chicken wandering here and there  - it was quite worrying. Once I had parked I walked back to see the chicken who had scraped little holes in the verges so they could have a dust bath. They didn't seem to mind my approaching them at first, but then they started making a terrible row, and the spotty cockerel joined in - I didn't realise chickens could be so noisy!! 
This is one of the girlies enjoying her dust bath, just before she took offense at me photographing her!
