Devils-bit scabious
plenty of it in this rough area on the in bye grazing. A food source for marsh fritillary butterflies. We were in this part of the field collecting lengths of logs to take back to the farm for firewood. Earlier in the year we had chopped up a couple of trees that had landed on the fence here. We have begun gathering all these lengths that we have cut in various places to outside the shed ready for sawing into rounds then chopping into logs. We need to collect plenty as we are completely out of wood!
No long lines whatsoever for Cal today. We also let the sheep out the round pen for him to work them in a bigger space this afternoon. He coped very well. We will see how he does tomorrow starting with them in the open!
19c sunshine until 3pm overcast then rain.
