Took a float plane up further north to this site in a gorgeous harbor. Had native peoples living here thousands of years and then in 1913 a gal and family moved there so as to free husband of his opium addiction come by in the dens in Vancouver.

She is known as Couger Annie and the site as Couger Annie's garden. She shot many Cougars and had quite an aim. Sold the pelts, gardened and had a business in that. Ran the post office with government contract even though not any mail. But she sold stamps to herself largely so as to stay in business and then used them as cash. Had about 9 kids. And so on. A true western character.

The buildings are falling down but a photographers delight of things old. The kilometer of Boardwalk trails built by present owner and all his buildings beyond charming. The whole day was filled with a bigger sense of this country to include a huge grove of ANCIENT cedars just so huge and staggering. Trees 2000 years old are nothing but that.

And the float plane trip and perspective of the many islands and inlets simply staggering. Unique place on the planet.
