St. Mary's irises

I look forward to seeing these flowers every spring. 
They grow beside the stone wall that once bordered a mansion and now borders the cathedral parking lot. I wonder how old these irises are.

A high-rise will soon be built on this land. 
Woodman, spare that iris!
