Lest we forget ...

This rather beautiful peace emblem (bamboo horns, with live bamboo growing through them, topped by metal doves) is at the heart of a new Remembrance woodland in Rozelle Park, Ayr. Dotted through a recently-felled area of forest are several wooden sculptures of soldiers - Allies and German - and seats with poppies and images wrought into them are scattered along bark-paved paths. The rough ground left by the felling mimics shell-torn land, with the natural plant growth rising and falling around the figures.
