It took two of us!

Not my usual kind of blip but giving my ornamental pear tree a hair cut was my job for the morning.  
I did what I could from the ground and then waited for my sister to come and hold the ladder while I went up on the shed roof to wield the secateurs.  Once I was up L used the loppers to prune the bits she could reach. There was a time when L would have been on the roof but her knackered knees have put a stop to that.  I doubt if I'll manage it again ... I'm not as young and agile as I once was .... but you never know!

The local tip was very busy and I had to cue but it was worth it to get rid of all the clippings .... old sheets are great for transporting garden rubbish.
