Life through the lens...

The Pond

After the " make-over" the plants round the pond are gradually growing up again. However I still wish they had left some of the bushes, as it looks a bit bare.
I was chatting to one of the elderly village gentlemen, and he said it had all been a waste of time and money!
This is how it looked on the 29th August last year. See here
There were still some young ducklings, and a couple of Canada geese have returned. So it is nice to see the wild life getting back to normal.

After the set back with the rats, I'm afraid Tom isn't having a very good year with his tomatoes. They don't seem to be ripening very quickly. However he has some wonderful climbing kidney beans. I think the variety is " Cobra".They taste wonderful. As usual he isn't charging enough. 50p for over half a kilo.
At the moment we are having beans every day! One day Tom's, and the next day our runner beans.

Last night I made a lovely dish, to go with grilled lamb chops.
Lightly boiled kidney beans.
Tomatoes, red onions and garlic , sprinkled with fresh thyme and roasted in the oven.
Toss all together with fresh chopped mint, a little olive oil, and a squeeze of lemon. Delicious!

It was beautiful here this morning, but started raining after lunch.
MrC is watching the rugby on TV. Not sure who is winning, but I keep hearing shouts coming from the lounge. Hope it is Hull.
