Gold Post Box

This newly painted post box resides on a corner of Manchester's Albert Square. As most residents of the UK will know, each of Team GB's gold medal winners gets a post box painted by Royal Mail in their home towns to celebrate their fantastic achievement. I say most as a lot of people were staring in complete bafflement and trying to figure out why it wasn't red anymore!

We have one in Manchester thanks to Philip Hindes - a 19 year old cyclist who won his medal along with Sir Chris Hoy and Jason Kenny in the team sprint - one of the first golds from Team GB before the avalanche of the following few days.
