The storm is over

It was Thursday when the first rain squalls hit, and by the time that I was approaching the harbour bridge to go home, the signs were warning of wind gusts on the bridge, and advising "extra care". Thursday night (actually the early hours of Friday) I was woken by the scream of the wind over the top of our building, because of the atrium. The same effect as I had to struggle to achieve with a bottle when I was young. After a bit of a lull early on Friday, it all returned in full force. The worst of it appeared to have gone before I woke this morning, and the day has generally been cold and clear.

Mother-in-law is back in hospital; briefly she hopes. Another severe breathless attack. I went and saw her yesterday before heading home and thought that just looking at her few would think she is 96 and feeling wretched. Still there today, so S and her brother visited again this afternoon, and she is (as usual) agitating to go home. Despite it all she still manages on her own with three visits a day from the home help people (to help with meals, and be there while she does some things). It's a great service.

Today has allowed me time to do some of the tasks I incur from being on Council. Almost forgot to get a blip. Late afternoon, I thought the signs were good for a great sunset, and I think I was right.

Now to watch the delayed telecast of the New Zealand vs Australia rugby union game in Wellington. Sure to be a closer game than last week's one in Sydney.
