Bonus Day 2!!
Hello Blipfriends!
Dolly reporting! Day 3 in Denmark!
It was a beautiful morning after the heavy rain last evening and we were loving our little log cabin, so Mum decided we deserved a rest day and was glad to find out that we could stay another night. Yay!! That's what holidays should be about - not rushing or keeping to an agenda!
We went on a late morning walk down to the water. We were staying just north of the border with Germany and our campsite overlooked the Flensburg Fjord, the western most inlet of the Baltic Sea. It was a little hot for me, but we found some forest and other shady bits, especially when we got to the actual beach. It was a small beach but sandy, overlooking clear water with nice views of Germany and lots of sailboats.
After sitting on some rocks and just enjoying the view (and a bit of people and dog watching) Mum said - "Let's go back now and have a restful afternoon at our cabin, and then come back here for a Sunset Beach Fika!" And so we did! Great plan!
We liked the beach and the water even more in the evening sun. Alice had taught me this rock climbing skill and also how to do a little better at posing (treats help!!). We walked along the beach, enjoyed the sounds of a family playing in the water, then the peacefulness of just us and the birds, and a few other humans, also out to watch the sunset. We set up our camping chair and my picnic rug and we had tea in our new special Swedish camping mug and a syrup waffle to go with it. (See extra photo). The only scary thing was when a crab started running towards us! He stopped dead in his tracks though! He must have been scared of poodles!
It was a wonderful simple outing. We didn't want to leave but it soon got dark. We wish sunsets lasted longer!
