Coffee flavoured slice

As we have both celebrated blip milestones recently, a very small celebration seemed in order. This is not the sort of thing we eat very often, but our local baker has just won a national bakery award for his slices. He placed second in Australia. Not bad for a small Adelaide suburban bakery at Belair.

"  The owner of Banana Boogie, who competed in the Merbein Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph on Saturday, August 20, made 60 vanilla slices for holiday-makers in a small kitchen at a Mildura caravan park.
Mr Spencer kept 10 pieces aside to enter in the championship, where his traditional vanilla slice was named the second best in Australia.
The Belair bakery also won first place in the professional sultana muffin section and second place for its coffee and walnut vanilla slice in the innovative category."
