Villa Rufolo at Ravello

This iconic image is instantly recognisable at Ravello. Taken from the Villa Rufolo where open air classical concerts are held every night in August to commemorate a visit by Richard Wagner. The concerts began in 1953 - the same year Humphrey Bogart and Gina Lollobridgida filmed Beat the Devil there.
The town was a destination for artists, writers and musicians like Graham Greene, Virginia Woolfe, Greta Garbo, Tennessee Williams , Gore Vidal and Jacqueline Kennedy.
