Hummingbird Heaven

All summer long, I have been delighting in watching the Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds coming to sip on the "Black and Blue" Salvia (salvia guaranitica) which is growing in the planter boxes on our deck.  They seem to prefer these flowers more than any of the others on offer -- and I always make sure to plant things in the hot pink/red colour range to attract them.  I wasn't expecting these to be at the top of their Favourites list!

Oh, and by the way, all summer long I have been trying to photograph said Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds, but with absolutely no success.  They usually pop in for a visit when I don't have my camera to hand, or else they eat and run so quickly I don't have time to focus and shoot!
