Like mushrooms
they sprouted for 10 years.
The golden decade.
When farmers became builders and swapped the Hiace vans for the Range Rovers.
I remember asking my brother about ten years ago if any new industry had arrived to Belmullet.
The answer was negative.
I asked him, but surely all these houses that are getting built, what are the people who live in them working at? They have to have some sort of occupation.
'Oh, they work all right, was the reply. They build houses'
How this did not go on for ever and ever is beyond me...
