Purple against the blue
Summer is turning towards Autumn just as the weather reminds to give us a taste of the departing season, and the heather is turning purple all over the hillsides. This particular clump is in the Chilean hillside in Benmore Gardens (do they have heather in Chile?) on a hot afternoon (really: the hillside in question was sheltered from any breeze this afternoon) when we actually fell asleep in the sun on a bench in the walled garden after our climb.
My extra photo is of the extraordinary sky at teatime, of the dappled cloud that cleared away in a haze of pink later.
