Goodbye for now

Today we waved goodbye to our last Olympic guests, and those who clocked up the longest stay - till that record’s broken by a Paralympics volunteer who arrives next week. Meanwhile, between old friends and new ones who came through Hidden Pousadas Brazil and Airbnb, we’ve played host to 24 guests during the Games. An exciting and sometimes exhausting whirlwind, as we juggled rooms and schedules, changed endless sheets and towels and made it to eight Olympic events. It has been wonderful, though, and we have been so lucky in our guests, all of whom we  hope we can now claim as friends. 

Thank goodness we still have the Paralympics to look forward to, otherwise it would all seem so flat as we catch up with all our neglected paperwork, put furniture back in the right places and search for the things we tucked away out of sight
 
Maria was in top hurricane form today, sweeping and washing everything in sight. Believe me, I’ve done a lot of both on the days she hasn’t been here, but she takes it to a whole new level. I can’t imagine what we’d do without her, she’s simply amazing.
 

And now for some pasta and beer – or maybe wine. Yes, I think wine is called for. Goodnight all!
