Caught behind the wire

Followed this heron as he strolled along the canal towpath near Riddian Bridge, on the Rushall canal, Walsall. He stopped every so often to see if there was anything interesting for lunch. After a few minutes, his head went down, there was a loud splash and a flapping of wings as he took off to the far side of the canal. The photo tells the rest of the story .... a tasty meal!
