The Starling’s Throat
The starling that sits on a post in the back yard is a superb mimic. I hear passably good calls of fantail and bellbird, and tiny lambs out of season, as well as a variety of sounds that surprise me occasionally. How does he do it? Perhaps a clue to his mastery can be gained by looking down his throat. Look at the extra shot to see what I mean.
