Paul Bunyan Festival
What a fun day we had--I love this festival! They have "lumberjacks" that carve things out of huge chunks of wood using a chain saw--this guy was working on a "fairy cottage on a mountain" & had brought along pieces he's done in the past, which were amazing---there was a bear that was standing on it's hind feet and must have been close to 6 feet tall, a fabulous Viking, and a huge Musky jumping out of (carved) water! They serve the best roast beef sandwich ever made, and while you eat there's a group of 5 men who wander around dressed as loggers & they sing in harmony--all sorts of old logging songs from the late 1800's! (in case you didn't gather this, the area had a booming logging trade in the late 1800's, early 1900's due to the great variety of trees found in the pristine forests here. The festival also had lots of arts and crafts booths, booths that sold bakery, or fudge, or ice cream, or taffy---all so tempting, tho' I limited myself to just the sandwich! :))
