Moeraki Boulders
I stopped in Timaru today to see a friend. She wasn't at home but I caught up with her at work. I hadn't seen her in nearly 10 years so it wasn't anywhere near long enough but at least it was a start.
Next stop was Oamaru for Whitestone cheese. Yum! I even bought some to share with Kiwilizzie when I get home. Gosh I'm a good friend!
Third stop was Moeraki boulders. By pure fluke I timed it just right and the tide was really low so they were all exposed. These boulders are amazing. The sea has gradually worn them out the cliffs but they look as though they have been deliberately placed there. The site always feel somewhat sacred to me, and whenever I visit I pause for a few moments just to say thank you - although I have no idea who I'm thanking or what for.
I've blipped them twice before so today I've chosen a different view of them. I love the marble that is exposed in the broken boulders (or perhaps they are the 'hatched' ones).

By not being at home today I am missing out on seeing one of my students receiving the Trust Power Youth Volunteer award for the Nelson Tasman region. I am sorry to miss the event and would not have done if this trip had not been important. My congratulations to R - well done girl, you deserve the accolades. Hope your thank you speech went well.
