A capacity audience at Edinburgh Book Festival to hear two former politicians Christopher Harvie and Tam Dalyell.

Tam was required to interrogate professor Harvie about his books on modern Scottish history and his views on current political issues.

On paper it looked good, in reality it was dull as dishwater. Audience questions had the potential liven things up and would have done had the performers actually answered the questions. Instead we were treated to personal opinions totally unrelated to the questions.
