Coming, ready or not..

We had a very good journey up to Walton on Thames this morning apart from the last bit on the M25 - surprise, surprise. Queues and sometimes complete stop and all accompanied by heavy showers. Eventually the satnav took us to our destination. We have come here to be part of Cliff's 80th birthday celebrations. Cliff's wife has tracked T down after 40 years and as they have not seen each other since it will be a big surprise all round. Initially, it was a surprise for us too as we seem to have gatecrashed a 4 year old's birthday party at the house next door. Once in the right house though we have all had a lovely party and although I did not know anyone apart from T I was very soon enveloped by this lovely family and all their friends and had a good time.

The weather was very kind and the party ended with the last of us watching the late news and seeing a re-run of Jess and Mo's phenomenal races for gold and then the receiving of their medals. Not a dry eye in the house. A perfect end to a perfect day.

The picture is of Lydia, one of our hosts' beautiful granddaughters..... All the grandchildren were playing hide and seek and Lydia was counting one to ten................... or 100 when the others were making life difficult!
