UL209 and MV Loch Seaforth
We enjoyed the exhibition last night at An Talla Solais gallery (called Cabinet). We met several people that we know and there were some really good paintings in the show. Eleanor (tutor at Bridge House Art) had two pieces, her husband had three that we saw, and our friend Joanna had three pieces on show. There is always a silent auction for small square works donated by artists, the squares being done on a theme picked for the year. I donated a print of a boat one year. We bid on a ceramic tile by Eleanor's assistant on this year's summer school courses.
This morning I had my usual walk with Maeve the Deerhound, then went back to pack the car. As usual there was no rush for us to move the car from the parking space outside the house so we went for a wander down to the little market, then down to the harbour. It was lovely and bright so I grabbed a ferry shot as I knew I would be driving most of the day. Then we went round to Ceard so Apothecary7 could have a chance to meet our friend Jan and have a chat before we had to start for home.
We went back the way we had driven up last Saturday. We stopped at Beauly for an early lunch, then made good time until we hit the traffic near Fort William and then got stuck for a while behind a slow car through Duror and into Benderloch. He had gathered such a convoy behind him it was impossible to get past. He eventually pulled over and let everyone through. It would have helped if he had done so sooner or if the cars behind him had left decent gaps so faster cars could overtake. Saturday afternoon nose to tail through Oban, as is normal, and then the road cleared again.
We had hoped to get time to stop at Kilmelford for a cuppa and to see Wee Flecky's exhibition of photos but we got there at 3.55pm and the cafe shuts at 4. We asked if we could look round and the lady was happy for us to go upstairs and see the pictures so we just made it after all. We did get a cuppa by stopping at Kilmartin Museum. Their cafe opened until 5.30pm and we sat outside at one of the tables in the courtyard with Maeve.
We were back home sometime around 6pm. I enjoyed the drive again, but admit to being very happy to see the road sign that says 3 miles to Campbeltown !
