My 6am morning walk from the cottage started in a fantastic way as just as reached the crest of the first hill on the gravel road, I realised a deer was crossing the road ahead. She noted my presence at the same time and just froze, with one foot still in the air. I took six photos until she finally regarded me as mostly harmless and continued her crossing. Perhaps 10 seconds later her young offspring sprinted across, following the mother deer.

The "Deer Hunter" theme felt the appropriate soundtrack to this.
