Glencoe Lochan

This area of forest was planted and transplanted in the 19th century by Donald Alexander Smith who was the 1st Baron Strathcona and Mount Royal. The forest originated from the Pacific Northwest of Canada. After coming to Glencoe his wife Isabella became homesick for her Canadian homeland, he had this forest planted in an attempt to abate his wife's depression.
It is currently under the care of the Forestry Commision .
David and I walked round it this morning , it is a lovely peaceful place apart from the midgies lol xx
