Indak Indak sa Kadalanan

Today celebrates one of the highlights of the Kadayawan celebration here in my hometown of Davao City, the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan. Kadayawan is taken from the root word "dayaw" which means good, valuable, superior or beautiful. The festival is a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture and the bounties of harvest.

I have taken better photos than this one but i am careful not to publish the ones that I will be using for the Hulagway sa Kadayawan (Photo of Kadayawan) photography contest. I am very serious about this contest. I have every intention to win but what inspires me most is the feeling of being a part of the community by participating in my city's activities.

I braved the hot weather even though I have been complaining about the heat since i came back from the UK. I still have another day of collecting photos from the Pamulak sa Kadayawan tomorrow.
