It's a baldy bald life!

New Discoveries

We headed down to Crammond for Parkrun today. I was regretting that we had takeaway last night as thai green curry and rice were sending glutinous bloateyness signals to the brain. Although it ended up a season's best, I was pissed off because my pacing was crap and way too many people passed me in the last km. Not good enough!

Rosemary's dad is here so we then headed for a day out, starting at the shale museum in Livingston. It was quite an education watching Dada Byde and Rosemary perusing geological maps. I started imagining Roy Castle playing his trumpet as I believe they broke the world record for the slowest ever peruse of a museum exhibit.

Admittedly, I enjoyed the paraffin bit.....recalling how my bedroom was heated by this fuel before our house was centrally heated....with Robert Bank's grandad being the paraffin delivery man.

We had a visit to New Lanark and had planned lunch at a nice cafe....however, there had been a rare Byde (snr) map reading calamity and we were way off track to visit the good one. Rather, we had a very very late lunch with hunger pangs, that only endurance athletes could understand, and I was quite happy with a slightly below average nosebag from the visitor centre at New Lanark.

I didn't know this place was a world heritage centre. We were all museum ed out by this stage and I was very happy to have a walk up the Clyde instead. I didn't know such a stunning waterfall existed here and that JW Turner had painted it. I tried photographing the falls.....but the light was shite, especially as the day was overcast, with a slight drizzle falling. The view from William Wallace's seat was still pretty good. The disappointing bit was that we got back to New Lanark a little late to get an ice cream.

Amazingly, we got home having not found out who had won the Olympic triathlon, and spent the rest of the evening watching that. Well done Gwen!
