Cromwell Monument, Naseby
It was one of our regular visits to Northampton today and on the way there we stopped at the site of the 1645 Battle of Naseby.
This blip shows the view across the battlefield from the Cromwell Monument. The Royalist army under the command of Prince Rupert and King Charles I was defeated in the battle by Parliamentarian army commanded by Sir Thomas Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell.
We were lucky to be there in the sunshine. Those menacing black clouds in the background had just dropped some torrential rain over the site.
