I was sent the Collins Pocket Guide to British Birds (1958) by my Aunt in Santa Barbara, that once belonged to my Dad...we're not sure how it ended up in California 'though... She is my Dad's sister
It was given to him by the same person who gave me Reader's Digest Book of British Birds (with the owl cover)... someone who I called an Aunt but technically was no relation... I've heard the term "Courtesy Aunt" being used in these situations...
not the most interesting of blips or stories but i like a good ident book
a quietish day followed by another lovely evening with the Screen Banditas' Reels from Life: or How We Learned to Love Postmodernism - with old found footage of Niagara, Elie and London, amongst others, to the soundtrack of a pair of windup gramaphones playing 78s
