Hunt and Darton
Up early (for a Saturday) to head off on my mini-break: one night in Edinburgh on a friend's sofa bed...
The main reason for going is to see David Paul Jones' Palmstar Poppy at the Barony Bar. DPJ write the most beautiful, emotional music and I know from the start that I will need tissues. I wasn't disappointed. Thank you DPJ.
A seat on sunny Broughton St afterwards and some chat with M and Colin before a sunny stroll up to George St and then over to High St to meet Andy. He was with his crew in a brilliant pop up cafe called Hunt and Darton.
Platter of crisps on foil trays (maize based snacks), Blue Nun wine, Blue Ribbands, Battenburg, Tunnocks and Wagon Wheels are just some of the delights on offer in the pineapple decorated space. Their business plan is revealed on a huge chalk board showing their bank balance, mark up, covers etc.
Go if you can to both of these and the Ian Hamilton Finlay exhibition is also great but don't go to La Clique Royal at the Spiegeltent which was a big disappointment and not as good as it used to be.
