What is it?

I was given this yesterday and would be pleased if the person who gave it to me does not reveal the answer until Sunday.

I find it a very pleasing and appealing item.  It is however intended as a strictly utilitarian item which will spend much of its existence out doors and very dirty.

A wet dull day up here in Cumbria with nothing much moving (including me) few birds at the feeders, not the weather for a flower shot in the garden.  So I decided on a little guessing game.
