Cliff Top Painted Lady
We had an amazing walk along the cliff top from Staithes to Runswick Bay yesterday - our best day of the week weather-wise - see extra. Trying to photograph an amazing set of butterflies along the way. I say trying as I had the wrong lens on the camera, but I managed to come away with a few record shots which have helped me to identify Dark Green Fritillary Wall Brown butterflies (these were flying in clusters in lots of places along the path), three Painted Ladies enjoying the scabious on the far side of Port Mulgrave, a Speckled Wood and two Meadow Browns in the shrub enclosed area of the path above Port Mulgrave, quite a few small and large whites and some dark winged large butterflies on the wing which were probably Peacock or Red Admiral.
We even managed a walk to the pub for a meal last night. I was hoping for a decent sunset on our way back but once the sun disappeared behind the hill it failed to put on a show. (Too late for me last night to do anything other than download photos and look at what I'd got during the day.)
