The naming of moons...

Now that we have a lower boundary fence, I've discovered that I can watch the August full moon rise over our neighbour's hedge. It was a particularly beautiful shade of apricot this evening. 

Many cultures have named each month's full moons, usually relating them to a farming or wildlife event that takes place a around the same time. The Celts referred to this moon as the Grain Moon or Dispute Moon, while for the Chinese this is the Harvest Moon. Among the more frequent names used by North American tribes for the August full moon are Sturgeon Moon, Corn Moon, Dog Days Moon and Lightening Moon. For the Inuit, this is the Swan Flight Moon.
