Working late

A late evening walk across the fields with the dog earlier.
The harvesting goes on at a pace with almost round the clock working. I suspect they're trying to get as much in before the forecast rain over the next couple of days.

The harvest seems to be done on an industrial scale nowadays - it is of course big business that has to be done efficiently and quickly. Nothing like it was when we were kids. Tonight, half a dozen tractors just baling and collecting the straw on and endless procession of huge trailers coming to take them away somewhere. Not the small bales that we used to build massive castles with as kids either (or the round ones that get covered in distracting colours of plastic), but much larger blocks that must weight half a ton each.
