Mingling With The Common Folk

My Dear Fellow,

The Edinburgh Book Festival, and the opening of Charlotte Square Gardens allowed me to get close enough to find out that this is a statue of Albert, The Prince Consort. He does not look happy about having the common folk picnic at his feet. He's got another week of it to go.

I was shocked though. Shocked that in the 22 years that I've lived in Edinburgh, I never knew he was parked in Charlotte Square. Also shocked that he could ride a horse like that, what with that piercing in his percy and all.

I didn't linger. I checked out the bookshop they always open in the garden and then headed home. I have "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Home" to watch. That is way more important than royalty on horseback.
