Let the run begin

School cross country today, both ran well in their age groups. Although Lauren decided to run with the 8 year olds because she is "nearly 8" (in February next year).

I did the good parental thing and cheered, snapped a few pictures and congratulated them on their perseverance.

I was mostly surprised at Miss "8" finishing the race because she had complained of everything being wrong with her for the past few weeks, from an 'infected' paper cut to a 'broken back'. The child is desperately wanting to be sick so that she gets attention that she doesn't apparently get otherwise. Her weekend away with me to Disney on Ice clearly didn't do the trick.
