Ginger Lily
We went down to Mosteiros which by Sao Miguel standards is a good beach. The atmosphere was pretty close and finding a place to park was a bit of a challenge. The Azoreans love to spend their weekends out of doors and half the world takes their family to the beach for a barbecue. We found a patch of rather spiky volcanic rock to lie on and went for a splash in a large rocky seawater pool but this was a less than memorable experience.
Early evening we cooked a rice dish in our little wooden house and read our books... a quiet evening in. A wind was blowing up and the fine weather is evidently changing. We are feeling rather subdued today having heard some rather worrying news that our much loved young tom cat Billy has gone missing from home for four days.
This is a picture of a Ginger Lily which grows wild here in profusion. It is pretty but regarded as an invader which is driving out indigenous plants.
