Peace brother peace

Tbilisi's newest bridge, the Bridge pf Peace, commissioned in 2010.  Designed by the Italian architect, Michele de Lucchi. It was built in Italy and reportedly driven in 200 trucks to Tbilisi.  This image taken upstream from yesterday's blip.

De Lucchi's view on bridges: "A bridge is a structure that joins two points, allowing people to get over an obstacle, and it is also a highly symbolic form of architecture in that it can be an_emblem_of_dialogue between two opposite and divided positions”.  Wise words in this region.
