Souvenir

We were puzzled as to why male peacock Leon had only a stubby tail. I had no idea that peacocks shed all their tail feathers in summer and start growing more in the autumn, ready to show off to their mates in spring. I suppose other birds moult, so I shouldn't be surprised. I found this feather in the hedgerow as we were leaving Les Phoenix. Leon himself in extras -- he spent most of his time sheltering from the sun under bushes, so it was difficult to get a decent photo. I think it's probably not tiny enough for Tiny Tuesday.
