Cyfarthfa Castle and Park
Today I visited Cyfarthfa Castle and Park situated at Merthyr Tydfil with daughter No. 2. Built in 1824, the Castle Museum and Art Gallery - described as the most impressive monument of the industrial Iron Age in South Wales - was once home to ironmaster William Crawshay II and his family. It serves as a reminder to the ironmaster's dominance over the wealth the iron industry brought to the area. Also situated in the extensive grounds is a beautiful lake, see extra blip.
Before exploring the castle and grounds we had a lovely picnic followed by a very delicious ice cream.
