After a day of fantastic weather yesterday it took a turn for the worse during the night. Very strong wind and driving rain.

The plan had been to have a leisurely morning, pack up and walk back out but after a night of little sleep and feeling like the tent was about to go we finally gave up at 6 a.m. and just packed all the stuff and headed off early.

Got soaked within 5 mins and my boots were letting in water. As opposed to Monday when we selected a suitable spot to cross the river, this time we just waded straight across - no messing.

I checked my watch at one point - 8:15 - I was wet, carrying a large rucksack, tramping through a bog and I thought it was still preferable to being at work.
