A bit out of kilter today. My better half has had some pain in her calf for a few days and even though she specifically spoke to the GP and asked about DVT it was brushed aside. On Sunday we had to rush to A&E as it had progressed to a pulmonary embolism. Now she has the correct diagnosis and treatment she is getting better, but our summer holidays are have had to be cancelled and everything is now in organisational chaos!

Both my parents worked for the NHS and I know there are a lot of dedicated hard working people in the NHS. I also know there are a lot of pressures on the NHS from time wasters, a large elderly population and self inflicted conditions of every sort, but that's no excuse for not advising a blood tests that could have saved her a lot of pain and a serious risk to her life...
