MONO MONDAY - SOUND
If you are observant, you are probably wondering whatever Hotel Chocolat has to do with sound!
You may remember that a few weeks ago, Mr. HCB became the proud owner of hearing aids - and I say “proud” because years ago, it was almost a stigma to wear them, but today, it is accepted almost as much as wearing glasses to correct sight - and, of course, great strides have been made and now they are no longer big and clunky, but very small and inobtrusive - so they fit in very well with today’s Mono Monday challenge with the theme of “Sound”.
So back to Hotel Chocolat - Mr. HCB wanted to let Beth, his audiologist at Leightons, know how much difference wearing these hearing aids had made to his life - and one of the main things is that he can now hear birds singing, something he hasn’t been able to hear for many years, and as we have many birds that are regular visitors to our garden, this is wonderful for him. So he wrote to Beth - not by email, but an actual letter - and told her this - as well as complimenting her on the wonderful service he had received.
The CEO of the company, Ryan Leighton, responded to Mr. HCB by sending a lovely letter and this wonderful box of chocolates - saying,
“I am so pleased to hear that your new hearing aids have made such a life-changing difference to you. To hear the birds singing again must be really thrilling for you and I am sure that your wife is pleased that you are now able to hear everything she says! In appreciation of your kind words and as valued customers, please accept this box of chocolates as a token of our appreciation, which I hope you will both enjoy.”
As this is the first day of the rest of my life after my Daniel Fast - and I have lost 6lbs in the three weeks - we won’t be opening them for a while, but the Best Before Date isn’t until October 2016, so we have time - that's assuming that Mr. HCB will share them with me - actually reading the letter again, it does say "valued customers" so in that case, they are half mine anyway.

from things,
but deafness cuts us off
from people.”
