24 Hour Static Bike Challenge
Three of my work colleagues decided to do a 24 Hour Static Bike Challenge for Action for Children. They could have done it in the office, in the nice and warm. They opted to do it at the West End of Princes Street. They set also set a target of £2000.
This photo was taken about 1hour 40 minutes to go.
The weather wasn't to kind to them on Friday Evening. When they started at 4pm, the rain had just started in earnest. Fortunately the forecast was wrong and it didn't last very long. They pedalled through the night, giving tourists directions to Shandwick Place, after a donation, of "its just there". There was the mostly good experience of late night / early morning revellers as heading home, (on the first of the day time service buses as the revellers had missed the night time service). There was also the entertainment watching the occasional confused motorist trying to find their way around the roads at the west end.
While feeling tired when I saw them, just after 2 pm, they were still quite chatty, and had just about got their fund raising patter off to a tee. ;-) Actually it was clear they were being very successful. Not only people chucking cash in the buckets, but they had received a midnight delivery from a nearby burger joint. Fantastic.
After all the money was counted, they collected £1300.77 during the challenge. Add to that the £935 raised online, they more than comfortably beat the £2,000 target.
Well done guys.
