DERELICT SUNDAY

We moved to our present home in 1978. Shortly after moving in our then neighbour and I placed a number of bird boxes between our two gardens. One was placed on the top of a dividing wall and over the years has been encased in ivy. This didn’t seem to put birds off using the box – in fact it may have made it more attractive. Towards the end of last year our now neighbour decided the Ivy must go and in removing it discovered the bird box. I asked that it be left there as it has been used regularly. This year it was inspected by a number of birds but not occupied. It may of course have been the fact that the removal of the Ivy revealed it was somewhat derelict – so this is my contribution to Derelict Sunday.

Many thanks to Admirer for hosting this challenge.
