Formby Point

We wanted to have a walk today, and we wanted good weather - so we headed west to Formby and the coast.

A circular walk - to the edge of the Altcar firing ranges (a bit unnerving seeing young women walking around with some very high spec and deadly weapons), and then along the largely deserted beach to the busier section at the bottom of Lifeboat Road.

The views were stunning. Blackpool tower and the pleasure beach through a mirage of haze in the first extra, the lake district in the second, Liverpool in the third. The backdrop in the main blip is the Welsh coast. And what must be well over 100 big wind turbines, most of them distant and part of the big array in the Irish Sea north of Llandudno.

The other extra is a large extended Asian family, resplendent saris, heading out to the foreshore. On the way to Formby we listened to desert island disks, with Nadiya Hussein, so this seemed appropriate.
